What this does

Cost basis comes from recorded buys and sells using the method shown on the page (labeled on every figure). Unrealized gain/loss compares basis to the latest entered value; realized gain/loss comes from sells.

XIRR (money-weighted) and TWR (time-weighted) are shown only when dated cash flows and valuations are complete enough; otherwise the page says data is insufficient instead of estimating.

Allocation groups holdings by asset type and account type (taxable vs tax-advantaged). There is no market benchmark comparison.

How to

Review

  1. 1Open Investments → Performance and choose account(s) and period.
  2. 2Check the method label and any data-gap notes.
  3. 3Open Allocation for breakdowns.

Methods and limitations

  • Figures are factual calculations from data you entered or imported, not tax lots reported by a broker.
  • Missing prices, transfers in without basis, or incomplete activity reduce accuracy and are flagged.
  • Not tax reporting — use broker statements for filing.

Corrections, voids, and reversals

  • Fix activity or valuations and figures recalculate.

Audit trail

  • Calculations are reproducible from the listed records.

Availability and provider notes

  • Built – unverified: this workflow exists in the prelaunch product but has not yet completed human certification. Review results before relying on them.
  • Market benchmark data: Planned. Live prices: Provider connection required.
  • KontoCore Personal and WealthKraft organize your own records. They do not give investment, tax, or financial advice and do not place trades or move money.

Permissions

  • Household owners and members with edit access can change records; view-only members and trusted helpers see only what their scope allows.

What happens in your books

Read-only calculations from your records. Market value changes on investments, property, or vehicles are valuations — they change net worth, not household income or spending.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing XIRR and TWR as if they measure the same thing.

Troubleshooting

Performance shows insufficient data

Add missing valuations or opening basis for transferred-in holdings.
