In plain English
Decide how much you plan to spend in each area each month, then see how actual spending compares.
What this does
Simple mode uses a few broad groups (housing, everyday, transport, fun, saving). Detailed mode budgets each category. You can switch modes; detailed amounts roll up to groups.
Actuals come from reviewed household transactions. Transfers between your own accounts (checking to savings, bank to brokerage, card payments) are neither income nor spending. Refunds reduce spending in their category.
How to
Create a plan
- 1Open Personal → Plan → Budget.
- 2Choose Simple or Detailed.
- 3Enter a monthly amount per group or category (or start from last three months’ average).
- 4Save. Progress updates as transactions are reviewed.
Imports and sources
- Imported spreadsheet rows and connected-account activity count toward actuals once reviewed. Duplicates removed during import are never counted twice.
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Recategorize a transaction and the budget updates. Changing a budget amount affects that month forward; past months keep their plan.
Audit trail
- Budget changes record who changed them and when.
Availability and provider notes
- Built – unverified: this workflow exists in the prelaunch product but has not yet completed human certification. Review results before relying on them.
- KontoCore Personal and WealthKraft organize your own records. They do not give investment, tax, or financial advice and do not place trades or move money.
Permissions
- Household owners and members with edit access can change records; view-only members and trusted helpers see only what their scope allows.
What happens in your books
Budgets are a plan only — they never create or change transactions.
Common mistakes
- Categorizing a savings transfer as spending.
- Budgeting a credit card payment instead of the purchases on the card.
Troubleshooting
Spending looks too high
A transfer or card payment is categorized as spending — mark it as a transfer.
