Direct connectors require the source provider’s connection to be configured. File-based import is always available.
What this does
Migration follows Choose → Prepare → Import → Review → Verify → Go live.
Imported source data is kept as a read-only source mirror so KontoCore can compare what it posted with what the source contained.
How to
Run a migration
- 1Choose the source system and strategy.
- 2Connect directly or upload exports.
- 3Map accounts, customers, vendors, items, and tax codes.
- 4Review validation and duplicate warnings.
- 5Preview the result and posted totals.
- 6Post, then verify control totals: trial balance, A/R, A/P, and bank balances at the cutoff.
- 7Go live and reconcile forward.
Full history or clean start
| Strategy | When to use |
|---|---|
| Full history | You want prior-year reports and transaction detail inside KontoCore. |
| Clean start | Begin on a date with opening balances plus open invoices and bills. Faster; prior detail stays in the old system. |
| Assisted | Complex, multi-entity, or messy data where an accountant or specialist guides mapping. |
Common mistakes
- Skipping verification because the import completed without errors.
- Mixing a clean start with partial history for the same period.
