What this does
A project belongs to a customer and collects the invoices, bills, expenses, time, and mileage tagged to it.
Project profitability compares income with costs so you can see which work pays.
Job costingAssign labor, materials, equipment, and other costs to projects and compare them with budgets and billing.Contracts, schedule of values, and WIPProgress billing from a schedule of values, change orders, commitments, retainage, and work-in-progress reporting.Progress billing and retainage from a contractBill a customer against a contract’s schedule of values: invoice → customer → job → contract line, with percent complete, billed-to-date, and retainage held on each line.Correcting job costs and keeping source provenanceFix a vendor bill or expense posted to the wrong job, phase, cost code, or cost type without losing the trail back to the original source document.Job detail and closeoutUse a job’s detail page to see contract, budget, committed, actual, billed, and remaining amounts, and close the job out cleanly when work is done.Phases, cost codes, cost types, and billing rulesDefine how job costs are organized — phases, cost codes, cost types such as labor, material, subcontract, equipment — and the billing rules applied to each.Job budgets and revisionsBuild a job budget by cost code and type, approve it as the original budget, and track revisions and change orders without losing the original.Contracts and schedule of valuesCreate a customer contract on a job, break it into a schedule of values, set retainage terms, and keep the contract value current through change orders.Commitments and subcontractsTrack purchase orders and subcontracts as committed cost per job and cost code, see what is billed and still open, and close commitments that won’t be used.Change ordersRecord customer and commitment change orders that adjust contract value, schedule of values, budgets, and subcontracts, with approval status and history.Job billing, progress applications, and retainageBill jobs by progress against the schedule of values or by time-and-materials from billable costs, with retainage held per line and billed-to-date always derived.WIP and over/under billingReview work-in-progress by job — percent complete, earned revenue, billings to date — to see which jobs are over- or under-billed and post an adjusting entry when appropriate.Labor, time, and equipment costingCharge employee time and equipment usage to jobs and cost codes, with labor burden and equipment rates, so job cost includes more than vendor bills.
