In plain English

Banking is where the money that actually moved in your accounts meets your books. You bring in the bank’s list of transactions, decide what each one was, and then confirm the totals agree with the statement.

What this does

Each bank or card account in KontoCore is linked to an account in your chart of accounts.

Transactions arrive from a live connection (when a provider is connected), from a statement file you upload, or by manual entry.

Imported transactions wait in a review queue until you categorize, match, or mark them as transfers.

Before you start

  • Have recent statements available for each account.
  • Know each account’s balance as of the date you start tracking it.

How to

Add an account manually

  1. 1Open Banking → Accounts and choose Add account.
  2. 2Choose the type (checking, savings, credit card, loan) and name it.
  3. 3Enter the opening balance and date, or leave it to migration.
  4. 4Save. The matching chart-of-accounts account is created or selected.

Import a statement

  1. 1Open the account and choose Import.
  2. 2Upload a CSV or supported statement file.
  3. 3Map columns (date, description, amount or debit/credit) and preview.
  4. 4Confirm. Duplicates of already-imported lines are flagged before anything is added.

Link a live connection

  1. 1Choose Link account and follow the provider’s secure sign-in.
  2. 2Select which accounts to link.
  3. 3New transactions arrive in the review queue automatically.

Provider connection required

Live bank links depend on a compatible banking data provider being configured and supporting your institution. Provider availability and any cost are disclosed before activation. Statement import always remains available.

Common mistakes

  • Linking the same account twice, causing duplicate transactions.
  • Entering an opening balance and also importing history that produces the same balance.

Troubleshooting

My bank isn’t listed

Use statement import. Live coverage depends on the provider.

Transactions stopped arriving

The connection may need you to sign in again at your bank. See Troubleshooting → Provider connection required.
