In plain English
Give your accountant a login to your books without sharing your own password.
What this does
Accountant access lets an outside professional work in your company with a role you choose. Their activity is recorded in your audit history like any user’s.
If the accountant’s firm uses the Firm plan, your company appears in their practice workspace. Your books stay a separate company — they are never merged with other clients.
How to
Invite
- 1Settings → Accountant access → Invite.
- 2Enter the accountant’s email.
- 3Choose a role (full accountant, bookkeeper, or read-only) and optional payroll scope.
- 4Send. They accept from the email.
Revoke
- 1Open Accountant access, select the person or firm, and choose Remove access. It takes effect immediately.
Statuses and lifecycle
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Invited | Awaiting acceptance. |
| Active | Has access. |
| Revoked | No access; past activity retained in audit history. |
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Change the role at any time; changes apply on their next action.
Provider and availability notes
- Firm SSO, where used, depends on the firm’s identity provider and agreement.
Permissions
- Only owners and administrators invite or remove accountants.
What happens in your books
Granting access posts nothing. Any entries the accountant makes post under their own name.
Common mistakes
- Sharing an owner login instead of inviting the accountant.
Troubleshooting
