What this does
The original budget is kept permanently. Revisions (including approved change orders) create a revised budget, and each revision records what changed and why. Reports compare original, revised, committed, and actual.
How to
Budget a job
- 1Open the job → Budgets → New.
- 2Enter amounts per cost code/type, or import from the estimate.
- 3Approve as Original.
- 4For later changes choose Revise and enter a reason.
Statuses and lifecycle

| Draft | Editable. |
| Approved | Locked original or revision. |
| Superseded | Replaced by a newer revision. |
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Create a revision; approved versions aren’t edited.
Permissions

What happens in your books
Budgets never post to the ledger.
Common mistakes
- Editing the original budget to hide an overrun.
Troubleshooting
