What this does
Onboarding provides a starter chart suited to your organization. Each account has a type (asset, liability, equity, revenue, expense) and detail type that determine where it appears on reports.
How to
Add an account
- 1Accounting → Chart of accounts → New account.
- 2Choose type and detail type.
- 3Enter name, optional number, and parent account.
- 4Save.
Retire an account
- 1Accounts with posted activity can’t be deleted — mark them inactive instead.
- 2Move future activity to the replacement account.
Common mistakes
- Creating an account for every vendor — use vendors and reports instead.
- Changing an account’s type after years of activity without reviewing prior reports.
