Electronic filing: Provider connection required. KontoCore does not file payroll returns itself.

What this does

The Filings page lists periods and their readiness: whether wages, withholdings, and deposits recorded in KontoCore reconcile, and whether employee data needed for W-2s is complete.

Readiness is a checklist and summary for your preparer. It is not a filed return and not tax advice.

How to

Prepare a period

  1. 1Payroll → Filings; choose the quarter or year.
  2. 2Resolve readiness issues (missing SSN, address, unreconciled deposits).
  3. 3Export the summary for your provider or accountant.
  4. 4After filing elsewhere, record the filing date and confirmation reference.

Statuses and lifecycle

StatusMeaning
Not readyData issues remain.
ReadyFigures reconcile; ready for your preparer.
Marked filedYou recorded that it was filed externally.

Corrections, voids, and reversals

  • If a filed period changes, the period returns to Not ready and shows the difference; amend through your provider.

Provider and availability notes

  • Electronic filing and agency submission require a connected payroll provider.
  • State coverage is limited to Ohio for calculation; other states’ filings are entirely provider-managed.

Permissions

  • Payroll and accountant-access users with payroll scope.

What happens in your books

Filings post nothing. Deposits and payments are recorded under Payroll liabilities.

Common mistakes

  • Treating “Ready” as “Filed”.
