What this does
A check either pays bills (reducing AP) or records a direct expense. Checks can be queued for printing; KontoCore assigns sequential numbers and records which were printed.
Printing produces a PDF you print on your own check stock — KontoCore doesn’t mail checks.
How to
Write and print
- 1Open Purchases → Checks → New check, or choose Check in Pay bills.
- 2Choose payee, bank account, and either bills or expense lines.
- 3Mark To print and save.
- 4Choose Print queue, confirm the starting check number, and print.
- 5Confirm which checks printed correctly; reprint any that jammed.
Statuses and lifecycle
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| To print | Queued. |
| Printed | Number assigned. |
| Cleared | Matched to the bank. |
| Voided | Reversed; number kept for audit. |
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Void a lost or wrong check — the number stays recorded as voided and any bills reopen. Never delete a printed check.
Permissions
- Owners, administrators, and users with bookkeeping permission can create and post. View-only users can read but not change records.
What happens in your books
Same as a bill payment or expense: cash down, payable or expense up.
Common mistakes
- Reusing a check number after a jam without voiding the damaged check.
Troubleshooting
Print alignment is off
Use the alignment test and set offsets before printing a batch.
