Prelaunch. Live cloud-spreadsheet sync requires a provider connection.
In plain English
Keep your spreadsheet if you love it. KontoCore reads it, shows you exactly what it will add, and skips rows it already has.
What this does
Real .xlsx workbooks and .csv files go through the same staged pipeline: stage → map → validate → dedupe → preview → commit. Nothing is saved to your records until you confirm.
Workbooks with several sheets let you pick which sheet to import. Cells containing spreadsheet errors (such as #REF! or #DIV/0!) stop the import and name the row and column so you can fix the file.
Each imported row keeps a fingerprint of its source, so re-importing an updated version of the same file adds only new rows instead of duplicating old ones.
Before you start
- Make sure the sheet has a header row and one transaction or balance per row.
- Remove totals rows and merged header cells.
How to
Import a file
- 1Open Import and choose an .xlsx or .csv file.
- 2If the workbook has multiple sheets, pick the sheet.
- 3Map columns (date, description, amount or debit/credit, account, category). KontoCore remembers the mapping for next time.
- 4Review the preview: new, duplicate, and invalid rows are marked.
- 5Commit. Only valid, non-duplicate rows are added.
Re-import an updated file
- 1Import the newer version with the saved mapping.
- 2Previously imported rows are recognized and skipped; only new rows are offered.
What happens in your books
Imported rows become household transactions with source context; they can later converge with bank activity and receipts as one verified event rather than duplicates.
Common mistakes
- Re-sorting or rewriting old rows before re-import — changed rows may look new.
- Importing a summary tab instead of the detail sheet.
Troubleshooting
Import stopped on a cell error
Fix the named cell in your spreadsheet (or replace the formula with its value) and import again.
Everything shows as duplicate
This file was already imported. Only rows added since then will be offered.
Dates or amounts look wrong
Check the column mapping and the date format; text-formatted numbers with currency symbols are cleaned, but mixed formats may need fixing.
