What this does
Customer change orders adjust the contract and its schedule of values; commitment change orders adjust a subcontract or PO. Either can also revise the budget.
Pending changes are visible for forecasting but don’t affect billable contract value until approved.
How to
Process a change order
- 1Open Projects → Changes → New.
- 2Choose customer or commitment change and the job.
- 3Enter lines by SOV line or cost code, and budget impact.
- 4Submit; approve when signed.
Statuses and lifecycle
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Proposed; forecast only. |
| Approved | Applied to contract/commitment/budget. |
| Rejected / Void | No effect; kept for history. |
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Void an approved change order with a reason only if nothing has been billed against it; otherwise issue an offsetting change.
Permissions
- Approval follows your approval rules.
What happens in your books
Change orders post nothing; billings and bills that follow do.
Common mistakes
- Billing extra work before the change order is approved.
Troubleshooting
New SOV line missing
The change order is still pending.
