What this does
Rules match on description, amount, and account, then propose a payee, account, or class. You choose whether a rule only suggests or also confirms automatically.
Transfers move money between two balance-sheet accounts you own and never appear on the profit and loss.
How to
Create a rule
- 1Open Banking → Rules → New rule.
- 2Set conditions such as ‘Description contains UTILITY CO’.
- 3Choose the payee and account to apply.
- 4Choose Suggest only or Auto-confirm, then save.
- 5Test it against existing review items before relying on it.
Record a transfer
- 1In the review queue choose Transfer.
- 2Select the other account.
- 3When both sides are imported, KontoCore matches them so the movement isn’t recorded twice.
What happens in your books
Paying the credit card from checking:
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Business Credit Card (liability) | 1,200.00 | |
| Checking (asset) | 1,200.00 |
Common mistakes
- Rules that are too broad (e.g. ‘contains PAYMENT’) catching unrelated transactions.
- Recording loan payments entirely as expense — the principal portion reduces the loan liability.
