In plain English
You create one login for yourself. Each business you keep books for is a separate company inside KontoCore, with its own records and its own list of people who can see it.
What this does
KontoCore separates who you are (your login) from what you work on (companies). One login can belong to several companies, and each company’s books are fully isolated from the others.
Guided onboarding collects the basics — legal name, fiscal year start, base currency, and how you want to start your books — and then leaves you on Home with a setup checklist.
Before you start
- Know your organization’s legal name and the month your fiscal year starts.
- Decide your base currency. It cannot be changed casually after transactions are posted.
- Decide whether you will bring full history from another system or start clean with opening balances. See Migration.
How to
Create your login and first company
- 1Go to my.kontocore.com and choose Start Free Trial.
- 2Verify your email address and sign in.
- 3Enter the company name, country, fiscal year start month, and base currency.
- 4Choose a starting path: start fresh, enter opening balances, or migrate from another system.
- 5Finish onboarding to open Home.
Work the setup checklist
- 1Review the suggested chart of accounts and rename or add accounts you need.
- 2Add your bank and credit card accounts.
- 3Add organization branding for invoices and estimates.
- 4Invite teammates or your accountant.
- 5Set sales tax settings if you collect tax.
Add another company later
- 1Open the company switcher at the top of the app.
- 2Choose Add company and repeat onboarding.
- 3Switch between companies at any time — the active company is always shown in the top bar.
Keep companies separate
Never record two legal entities in one company. Each company gets its own books, members, and plan.
Common mistakes
- Choosing the wrong fiscal year start month — reports and period close depend on it.
- Entering transactions before deciding between full history and a clean start.
- Working in the wrong company; always check the company name in the top bar.
Troubleshooting
I didn’t receive the verification email
Check spam or filtering rules, then request a new link from the sign-in page. See Troubleshooting → Missing invite email.
I can’t find a company I was invited to
Open the company switcher. If it’s missing, the invitation may not be accepted yet or was sent to a different email address.
