What this does
A template stores vendor, lines, accounts, and a schedule. Each run creates a bill or expense as a draft for review or posted, per template. Edits affect future runs only.
How to
Create a schedule
- 1Open Purchases → Recurring → New.
- 2Choose Bill or Expense, vendor, and lines.
- 3Set frequency and end.
- 4Choose Draft or Post, then save.
Statuses and lifecycle
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Running. |
| Paused | Stopped temporarily. |
| Ended | Complete. |
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Void individual records; edit or pause the template for the future.
Permissions
- Owners, administrators, and users with bookkeeping permission can create and post. View-only users can read but not change records.
What happens in your books
Each created bill or expense posts normally.
Common mistakes
- Posting a recurring expense that is also paid by an imported bank line — match instead of creating both.
Troubleshooting
Duplicate rent expense
The bank withdrawal was categorized instead of matched to the recurring bill.
