Enterprise → Dimensions
What this does
Dimensions add reporting segments to every line without multiplying accounts. Allocation rules spread a cost (such as rent) across dimension values by fixed percentages.
How to
Set up
- 1Enterprise → Dimensions → New dimension.
- 2Add values (e.g. departments).
- 3Optionally require it on certain accounts.
Allocate
- 1Create an allocation rule with source account and percentages.
- 2Run it for a period; review and post the generated journal.
Corrections, voids, and reversals
- Retag posted lines through a reversing correction; allocations are reversed, not edited.
- Posted records are never edited in place. Void or reverse them; KontoCore records a linked reversing entry with the user, time, and reason.
Permissions
- Administrators define dimensions; bookkeepers apply them.
What happens in your books
Dimensions don’t change account balances; allocations post a balanced journal that moves amounts between dimension values.
Common mistakes
- Creating accounts per department instead of a dimension.
