In plain English

Reconciling is checking your books against the bank’s statement. If the statement says you ended the month with $12,480.19, your books should agree once every cleared transaction is ticked off.

What this does

A reconciliation compares cleared transactions in KontoCore with a statement’s ending date and ending balance. A completed reconciliation is saved and feeds Books Health.

Before you start

  • Review all imported transactions for the period.
  • Have the statement showing the ending date and ending balance.

How to

Reconcile start to finish

  1. 1Open Banking → Reconcile and choose the account.
  2. 2Enter the statement ending date and ending balance exactly as printed.
  3. 3Tick each transaction that appears on the statement.
  4. 4Watch the Difference. When it reaches 0.00, choose Finish.
  5. 5The reconciliation report is saved for audit and review.

When the difference isn’t zero

  • Confirm the beginning balance equals the prior reconciliation’s ending balance.
  • Look for a transaction equal to the difference, or half of it (a sign entered backward).
  • Check for missing bank fees, interest, or transactions dated after the statement date.
  • Look for duplicates or a transaction recorded to the wrong account.
  • Never force the difference with an adjustment unless you understand the cause and have authority to do so.

Common mistakes

  • Entering the balance from a different date than the statement ending date.
  • Changing previously reconciled transactions — this breaks the beginning balance.

Troubleshooting

The beginning balance doesn’t match

A previously reconciled transaction was edited or deleted. Review the account’s audit history.
